Bio

Catherine Martha Holmes has been making art in some form for 30 years. She studied for two years at the Ontario College of Art and Design in the early 80’s before moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario where she received her Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Fine Arts and her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. Catherine completed a number of small artworks and exhibited in group exhibitions in artist run centres both in Thunder Bay and Toronto, Ontario.

Catherine began traveling with her husband and two young children in the early 90’s. Their travels took them to South Africa, Finland, Russia and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Some time was spent in Toronto, where she worked as a visiting artist in the schools.

From 2004 – 2008 Catherine illustrated for 6 magazines published by Up Here Publishing in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

She has taught painting and illustration workshops through the continuing education program at North Island College, Sybil Andrews Cottage and The Campbell River Art Gallery, Campbell River, British Columbia.

From 2014-2015 she lived and painted in Denmark.

Catherine makes her home on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada where she paints and/or draws daily.
